Step by Step
Take a thrilling small plane flight with Redtail Air Adventures and see Island in the Sky, Canyonlands' flat-topped plateau that offers endless panoramas of the desert and meandering Colorado River. Take-off from Canyonlands Field Airport will quickly lift you into the air, giving you an unobstructed view of the rock formations and canyons for which this park is famous.
Your pilot, as well as being an expert aviator, acts as a narrator. Thanks to the included headset, you'll receive exclusive historical and geographical facts about the region as he flies over iconic landmarks such as Cataract Canyon, a 46-mi deep cut in the Colorado River; and the iconic Corona Arch, Pinto Arch and Bowtie Arch, all visible from the air.
Each seat is located next to a large window on the high wings of the aircraft, ensuring panoramic views and spectacular photographic shots. The smaller aircraft allows for manoeuvres closer to the geography, offering an intimate perspective of the canyons sculpted by the river over millennia.
Upon landing gently back at Canyonlands Field, you'll have the opportunity to take photos with the plane and share impressions with your pilot and fellow pilots. The experience is ideal for photographers, nature lovers and adventurers looking to explore the American West from a new height.
