How far in advance should you buy tickets?
I recommend buying tickets in advance online, as the queues are huge every day. You can choose between standard (general) or premium tickets. And if you're spending several days in London, you can buy the London Explorer Pass, which includes this ticket and many others.
It is possible to buy your ticket at the Madame Tussauds ticket office, but this museum attracts 2.5 million visitors a year and queues can last up to 3 hours. My advice is that if you are thinking of buying your ticket there, you should go very, very early.

Is it advisable to purchase a tourist pass to visit Madame Tussauds?
There is also a third option for accessing Madame Tussauds, which I encourage you to consider if you are going to spend several days in the city. As you will discover in this other article I have written about London Tourist Cards, a tourist pass is really practical, as it includes access to London's main attractions, saving you a lot of time queuing and quite a bit of money on tickets.
The London Explorer Pass is the must-have pass for London, as it offers the possibility of choosing up to 7 attractions from the 31 available, including Madame Tussauds.
The Magic London Pass, on the other hand, is the best pass for family trips, as it includes access to four dream destinations: the London Eye, the spine-chilling tours you'll discover with tickets to the London Dungeon, the fun adventures of Shrek's Adventure and the impressive London aquarium, Sea Life London.
Vicky's Top Traveller Tip
Consider purchasing a tourist pass to save money on your trip if you want to visit other attractions such as the London Eye.

As for the layout of Madame Tussauds, it is divided into several themed sections, all of which are equally interesting, but I'll leave them here so you can plan your visit and focus on the characters you most want to see.

Learn about the history of Madame Tussauds
Who would have thought centuries ago that Marie Tussauds, born in France, would end up becoming one of the most popular names in the world when she learned to mould wax while working as a housekeeper. From her first exhibition in 1776 at the Royal Palace in Paris, her success was such that she was called upon to work as an art teacher for the sister of King Louis XVI and ended up living in the Palace of Versailles itself!
When her mentor died, Tussauds inherited his entire collection of wax figures, and her fame and recognition led to her being given the nickname Madame Tussauds and, in 1884, to the opening and installation of what is now the largest collection of celebrity figures in the world, the Madame Tussauds museum.

Several terraced houses by John Nash, the famous English architect, embellish the southern end of the city's busiest royal park.

- Oxford Street: If you have some shopping to do, take the opportunity to visit London's 'Fifth Avenue'. Just over a kilometre from Madame Tussauds, on Oxford Street, you'll find almost anything from basic souvenirs to the latest fashions from top designers.
