Step by Step

On this half-day tour you will discover the archaeological gems of Carthage as you cycle along its paths. You'll start at the Tophet of Carthage, a Punic sanctuary where you can learn about the rituals of this ancient civilisation, and continue to the Punic ports, which marked the city's naval power in the Mediterranean.

You will then cycle to the Baths of Antoninus, one of the largest Roman thermal complexes outside Rome, where the Romans relaxed by the sea. Your guide will explain how their heating and water supply systems worked, and why they were a symbol of imperial splendour.

The route continues to the Roman Theatre of Carthage, an open-air stage that hosted dramatic performances, and to Byrsa Hill, where you will admire the Cathedral of St. Louis from the outside. Although the Carthage museum at the top remains closed, the surrounding area offers panoramic views of the modern city and the sea.

Along the way, your guide will share anecdotes about the Punic resistance, Hannibal's defeat in the Second Punic War and how the Romans rebuilt the city after its fall. Each stop is a living history lesson that connects the Tunisian past with the Tunisian present.

The tour ends back at the meeting point, having covered the must-see sights of Carthage in an active, healthy and highly entertaining format. If you chose the e-bike, you will notice how easy it is to cross the site to cover more ground in less time.
