Stroll through the Spanish Quarter and along Via Toledo, two prime examples of Neapolitan street art. Thanks to the explanations and interesting facts provided by the professional guide accompanying you, you’ll learn about the history of a place that was home to a significant Spanish presence throughout the 16th century.
The Spanish Quarter, or Quartieri Spagnoli, was where Spanish soldiers lived during the 16th century. Although it was originally a district associated with brothels, violence and crime, today it offers visitors charm and a unique atmosphere. The small houses nestled within the larger buildings, the long, narrow streets and the curious sight of sheets and washing hanging from the residents’ balconies have become attractions in their own right.
Meanwhile, Via Toledo is one of Naples’ most iconic streets, stretching for over a kilometre. As you stroll along it, you’ll come across a host of squares, churches and noble palaces. Furthermore, the cultural and commercial life of this street has been one of its most striking features since the 16th century.
