This museum is the largest of its kind in Italy and one of the most important in Europe and the world. Founded in 1953, it houses Italy’s largest collection of scientific and technological objects and artefacts, including a rich selection of models of machines designed by Leonardo da Vinci, based on his original drawings.

The museum, which occupies the rooms of the former Monastery of San Vittore al Corpo, is situated near the site of some small vineyards once owned by Leonardo. Among the things you will find in the museum are interactive scientific exhibitions, chemistry laboratories, and rooms offering games and experiments on energy, light, electricity, robotics and genetics, amongst others.

Da Vinci’s life and work are explored within their historical context, linking his achievements as an engineer and humanist to the history of science, art, technology and Renaissance thought.

The museum currently occupies 50,000 square metres: more than half of this space is dedicated to the scientific and technological discoveries of recent centuries, with 13 interactive laboratories and 15 themed exhibitions.
