Step by Step
Enjoy a day trip to the Katla ice cave with a transfer from Reykjavík, situated on Iceland’s south coast, and take in the marvellous landscape of natural ice. The activity will be led by an expert guide, who will take you to see places and natural areas that are rarely seen in a lifetime, such as:
- Myrdalsjökull Glacier: before entering the ice cave, you’ll come across this marvellous glacier with its blue and black ice walls. It rises to a height of 1,493 metres.
- The Dragon Glass Katla ice cave: also known as the Dragon’s Cave. Beneath this cave lies the active Katla volcano, which gives the ice an ash-coloured tinge that contrasts with its natural blue and white hues.
- Skógafoss Waterfall: one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls, visible from several kilometres away. The River Skógá plunges down a rock face onto a plateau, creating a truly unique natural postcard scene.
- Vik: a coastal village set in stunning natural surroundings, surrounded by a black-sand beach and home to a wide variety of birds.
Return transport from Reykjavík will be by 4x4 jeep; during the journey, you’ll be able to admire Iceland’s mountainous landscape and the villages along the way.
