These tickets for the Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel will be the perfect excuse to visit one of the most impressive tourist attractions in the area. It is a 13th-century religious complex situated atop an island-commune off the coast of Normandy.
It is a medieval place of pilgrimage that has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also the site where the Archangel Michael has been venerated since 708 AD.
You’ll have the chance to wander through its more than 20 rooms, spires and towers that rise above the village. As you explore, you’ll discover the rich history of the Benedictine monks who began building the abbey.
You can join one of the free guided tours that take place throughout the day. You should enquire about them on arrival so that you can be allocated a time slot to attend. Another option is to hire an audio guide and explore at your own pace, whilst still benefiting from commentary throughout the tour.
A visit to the abbey is the perfect opportunity to witness one of the greatest tidal ranges in Europe, with changes of up to 15 metres in six hours. And, of course, the views are sure to impress.
