Step by Step

Immerse yourself in the fascinating history of the Champa Kingdom with an early morning visit to My Son Shrine, the religious and imperial capital between the 4th and 12th centuries. At dawn, soft light enhances the red brick towers and mystical atmosphere of this World Heritage archaeological site.

Your adventure begins with a 5:30am pick-up from your accommodation (or agreed point) for the short drive to My Son while the sun is still warm. Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a freshly brewed traditional bánh mì accompanied by Vietnamese coffee, the perfect fuel for exploration.

During the tour, your English-speaking guide will explain the religious and political organisation of the Champa, the mythology of their deities - especially Shiva - and the division into the two great castes Cau and Dua. You will be able to admire original reliefs and sculptures recounting battles, ceremonies and the daily life of this lost civilisation.

After the walk, replenish your energy with an extra coffee while overlooking the valley of rice paddies and mountains surrounding the site. Finally, return to Hoi An with stories of kings, royal tombs and the grandeur of a culture that rivals Angkor, Bagan or Borobudur.
