Step by Step

Start your seaside adventure as your guide introduces you to the contrasts of Ketchikan, nestled between the Tongass National Forest and the Inside Passage. After leaving the harbour behind, you'll enter the picturesque Creek Street, a former fishing area and cottages on stilts that now houses galleries and artisan shops.

Continue to a salmon hatchery, where you will learn about the life cycle of the salmon and its economic and cultural importance to the region. Depending on the season, you can admire the impressive leaps of the salmon upstream.

The trail continues to Totem Bight State Historical Park, a clearing in the forest with carved totem poles that tell the stories of the Tlingit and Haida clans. As you tour, your guide reveals the symbolism of each figure and the tradition of red cedar carving.

Before heading back, you'll stop at a rocky beach to explore the tide pools - natural aquariums filled with starfish and anemones - and, if you're lucky, spot bald eagles gliding overhead. The combination of sea, forest and culture makes this tour the perfect introduction to Alaska in record time.

Thanks to the medium group format (max. 56 passengers) you will enjoy unobstructed views and interact with the guide, who adapts the pace and time at each location according to the group's interest and the conditions of the day.
