Step by Step

Get an early start to your day in Kusadasi, where a friendly English-speaking guide will meet you at your hotel or agreed meeting point. After a short drive by air-conditioned coach, you will arrive at the Basilica of St. John, perched atop Ayasuluk Hill. Here you can admire a 4th century crypt and the tomb attributed to St. John the Evangelist.

Next, descend to the majestic ancient city of Ephesus, the epicentre of early Christianity. Walk along the Avenue of the Curetes, explore the 25,000-seat Great Theatre and feel the grandeur of the Library of Celsus, one of the best preserved buildings of Roman times.

The next stop will take you to the Temple of Artemis, destroyed and rebuilt many times throughout history and recognised as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Although only a few columns remain today, its legend lives on in every stone.

Around midday, you will enjoy a traditional Turkish lunch at a nearby local restaurant, where you can try specialities such as meze, kebab and baklava. After refuelling, the tour continues to the House of the Virgin Mary, a pilgrimage site where it is believed that Mary's last days were spent in peace and seclusion.

Finally, after paying homage at this shrine, you will return in comfort by coach to Kusadasi, with time to rest or explore the harbour on your own.
