More about: Seville Cathedral and Giralda Tickets and Tours
Seville Cathedral is the second largest cathedral in the world, surpassed only by St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. It is also the largest Gothic structure and one of the most recognisable churches in Europe. A must-see if you're visiting Seville, it should definitely be complemented with a visit to the Alcázar, a monument declared a World Heritage Site in 1987, which dates back to the early Middle Ages.
The Giralda is Seville's tower, and from the top you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire city. This site, made up of three monuments, is impressive and leaves no one indifferent. Don't miss it! Here are the best options for visiting this monumental complex:

How to get to the Cathedral and the Giralda in Seville

The monumental complex of the Cathedral, the Giralda and the Alcázar is located in the heart of Seville's historic centre, so it is easy to reach from anywhere in the city. If you are travelling by metro or bus, get off at the Puerta de Jerez stop and walk from there (you will find signs to guide you and you can easily find your way by following the Giralda Tower, which can be seen from all over Seville).
There is also a tram, called Metrocentro, which stops right at the door of the Cathedral. You can see the location on Google Maps to check the best route from your accommodation.
Recommendations for your visit to Seville Cathedral and the Giralda

- Best day to visit: When visiting any place in Seville, it is best to avoid the hottest hours of the day (which can be difficult in summer). Public holidays and weekends are also usually busier.
- Where to eat in the centre of Seville: Avoid eating around the cathedral. The places you will find will be expensive and of poor quality. Head towards Plaza Nueva or wander through the Santa Cruz neighbourhood if you want more authentic restaurants.
- Take this guided tour with children: The monumental complex of Seville Cathedral, the Alcázar and La Giralda are of enormous historical and cultural value, even for the youngest visitors. In fact, you'll find brochures aimed at them and educational material to help them enjoy the visit. However, it is not recommended to visit the Cathedral or climb the Giralda with children under 6 years old due to the noise they may cause and the difficulty of climbing the tower.
- Behaviour: In the Cathedral in particular, don't forget that you are visiting a place of worship, so you must behave accordingly. Photography with a tripod is not permitted without prior authorisation. It is also recommended that you dress appropriately and speak in a low voice out of respect.
How to visit Seville Cathedral, the Giralda and the Alcázar on your own

If none of the private tour options suit you, either because of the price or the conditions, you can also visit the monuments independently. To get the most out of a visit on your own, here are some tips.
The Giralda
Another must-see is the Giralda. If you want to buy tickets for the Giralda, you can do so at the ticket office on the day of your visit, at the door of the Cathedral. They cost €10 for the general public (there are reduced rates for students and pensioners), but I recommend buying them in advance as the queues at the ticket office to visit this monument are quite long and will take time away from visiting other places in the city. In addition, for €18 you get admission to the Cathedral included.
Seville Cathedral
You can also buy tickets for Seville Cathedral at the ticket office: it is open on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. In July and August, the opening hours are brought forward by half an hour.
The main problem with buying tickets at the ticket office is the queues and availability. Alternatively, you can buy them online: they include the climb up the Giralda and can be purchased well in advance so you don't miss out. You'll also avoid waiting in the sun to get to the ticket office and you'll go straight in at the time and on the day you choose for your visit.
The general admission price is £10 (half price for pensioners and students under 25). However, if you want to access the roofs or the masterpieces, the ticket price rises to £16 and you will have to do so in organised groups and not on your own.
Alcázar of Seville
Another must-see is the Real Alcázar in Seville. You can get tickets for the Alcázar online, but for the best value for money, we recommend a combined guided tour that also takes you to the Cathedral and La Giralda, such as this one available on Hellotickets for S$78
I can tell you in advance that the visit is well worth it, just like the Cathedral. Inside, you will see palaces that will leave you speechless and gardens that will evoke the wonders of the Alhambra. Don't miss this visit on your trip to Seville, no matter what you have to sacrifice in return.
However, if you want to know more about what you're going to see in the Alcázar of Seville and why it's important, you can check out this article on Alcázar of Seville Tickets and Tours
Tips for visiting the Cathedral and the Giralda in Seville

Here is some useful information for your visit to the Cathedral and the Giralda
Free admission
Like most historical monuments and museums, the Cathedral and Giralda in Seville have a free admission day:
- The Cathedral: On Mondays, admission to Seville Cathedral is free. In addition, unemployed people, disabled visitors and children under 14 are admitted free every day (although this does not mean that they do not have to queue at the ticket office or book their tickets online).
- The Giralda: Free admission is available on Mondays from 4pm and on Sundays until 2pm.
Avoid the hottest times of day
I recommend choosing the first hour of the day and, if possible, avoiding weekends; this will help you avoid the heat and crowds. Regarding the Cathedral, I recommend checking the mass times, which are usually posted on the side door.
Use a map
Before your visit, especially to the Cathedral of Seville due to its size, I recommend getting a map so that you don't miss any corners.
What to see in the Cathedral and the Giralda in Seville

Seville Cathedral
Explaining the entire history and importance of Seville Cathedral in just a few lines would be mission impossible. Every corner has a rich meaning behind it that is worth stopping to consider.
The best way to get the most out of everything you see in Seville Cathedral is with a guided tour or a good art guidebook. As this article is not intended to replace either of these two alternatives, I will simply point out what I think you should not miss to make your visit complete:
- The tour of the roofs: For me, this is a must. You will need to book a time slot to go up, but it is well worth it for the view you will have from there of the architectural details and the Giralda itself.
- The exterior: Exactly; it seems a bit obvious, but don't let your visit inside prevent you from turning the cathedral around to look at its architecture and view it from different angles.
- The orange tree courtyard: This can only be accessed from inside the cathedral through the Puerta del Lagarto, although curious visitors peek in from outside to catch a glimpse of the beauty of this small garden.
- The central nave: Rectangular in shape, its ceilings will catch your eye. Be sure to look at the stained glass windows and works of art that surround it.
- The tomb of Christopher Columbus: This is a particularly interesting stop if you take a guided tour of the cathedral, as your guide will tell you the different versions of the story of the navigator's birth and burial place.
- The Main Altarpiece: This work of art is considered the largest altarpiece in Christendom and depicts various religious scenes.
- Royal Chapel: It houses the remains of Alfonso X the Wise and his mother, and Pedro I of Castile and his wife are buried in its crypt.
Giralda
With a height of 60 metres, equivalent to a 25-storey building, the Giralda has 34 ramps and 17 steps that will take you to the top, where you will have spectacular views of the city. Don't miss a single detail of this impressive panorama. Make sure you are in good physical condition before starting the climb. Please note that the climb is not recommended for people who suffer from vertigo, dizziness or poor physical condition, but if this is not the case, I recommend that you go ahead.
