Step by Step

Zeitz MOCAA is the museum that brings together the best of contemporary African art. The structure is very large - 7floors - and also contains works by artists of African descent but living in other parts of the world. Buying a ticket allows you to enter without queuing and with an audio guide that allows you to understand the significance of each piece of art. The ticket guarantees access to both the temporary and permanent exhibitions.

The museum is a shining example of industrial conversion. It is housed in a former port silo that has been completely remodelled by the British designer Thomas Heatherwick. The interior of the building is shaped like a kernel of corn, with sinuous concrete walls and original elements of the old industrial structure.

Inside, works by internationally renowned artists - Mary Sibande, Athi-Patra Ruga, Nicholas Hlobo, etc. - are on display. - but also a restaurant, reading rooms and the rooftop sculpture garden.

Zeitz MOCAA is located in the Waterfront area and is easily accessible by public transport. Several bus lines stop nearby and, alternatively, you can opt for the Cape Town sightseeing bus.
