Step by Step
The Malacca Zoo is undergoing a transformation to an open concept that encourages wildlife education and conservation programmes. You'll walk along wide paths and green areas that recreate the habitat of each species, from elephants to Malayan tigers.
One of the big new additions is the African giraffe, which joins the upgraded Harimau Malaya (Malayan tiger) exhibits and the now larger, more natural elephant enclosures. You will be able to observe these animals in total comfort thanks to elevated platforms and strategic viewing platforms.
At the Keeper Talk, you will learn first-hand from the keepers as you interact with selected species. These educational encounters will allow you to understand animal behaviour and the zoo's breeding and rehabilitation efforts.
After dark, the Night Safari offers you the opportunity to explore the nocturnal jungle and observe animals such as felines and primates in full twilight activity, thanks to a safely lit tour designed to not disturb their natural rhythm.
In addition to the general tour, the zoo hosts a bird show and temporary exhibits. There are rest areas, cafés and souvenir shops throughout the park.
