Step by Step
The Cool Ghost Museum Melaka is not your average horror house, but a themed museum dedicated to showcasing Malaysia's rich tradition of ghosts and supernatural creatures, along with legends from other countries. Upon entering, you'll be greeted by life-size figures of the most famous spooks and illustrated panels recounting their origins and anecdotes.
One of the star attractions is the 3D art of visual trickery, where painted trompe l'oeil paintings create illusions of apparitions and paranormal phenomena that appear to float on the wall. You can pose and photograph yourself with these scenes for stunning shots.
For the more technologically minded, there are virtual reality experiences that simulate ghost encounters and interactive challenges. These stations allow you to immerse yourself in spooky environments and solve mini-games before escaping the spectre.
Along the way, you'll find display cases and corridors dedicated to Malay legends such as Orang Minyak, the greasy spirit, and Pontianak, the female vampire, each accompanied by maps, illusion panels and cultural curiosities. Information panels in English contextualise each creature and its historical significance.
The museum functions as a mini amusement park: each room offers a new twist of suspense, whether through sound effects, theatrical lighting or small animatronic demonstrations.
