Step by Step

This approximately 4½-hour excursion to the Murano, Burano and Torcello islands in the Venetian Lagoon is the perfect way to discover some of the most famous islands in the Venetian area in comfort and in just a few hours. On board a motorboat, you’ll explore the northern part of the lagoon whilst a guide on board shares information and interesting facts to help you better understand each stop.

The first stop is usually Murano, world-renowned for its tradition of glassmaking. Here you can stroll through the historic centre and watch a glass-blowing demonstration in a traditional furnace – one of the most distinctive experiences of the tour. This demonstration is included, although entry to the furnace is not compulsory.

The route continues to Torcello, a peaceful island of great historical and archaeological significance, considered one of the lagoon’s earliest settlements. You’ll have free time to admire some of its best-known sights, such as the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, the Church of Santa Fosca, the so-called ‘Throne of Attila’ or the Devil’s Bridge, or simply to relax in one of its bars.

The final stop is Burano, arguably the most photogenic island in the lagoon thanks to its famous colourful houses. Here you can stroll through its streets, pop into its shops selling handmade lace, or try the traditional ‘bussolà’, the island’s typical sweets. Afterwards, you’ll return to Venice, arriving at San Marco or Santa Lucia, depending on your chosen departure point.

A very cool walk around the lagoon, I loved the glass blowing in Murano. It's worth it, but don't expect anything out of this world.
