Step by Step
You set sail from the Molo Sanità in Trapani and in less than an hour the bow lines up with Favignana, the "butterfly over the sea". After a panoramic sail around Cala Rossa and the tuff quarries, the captain anchors in crystal clear waters: it's time to put on the equipment and dive among the banks of posidonia. The crew provides masks and floating churros for you to enjoy the swim in total comfort.
Back on deck, the aroma of pesto alla Trapanese and seafood heralds lunch: a plate of pasta, Sicilian bread, seasonal fruit and white wine or soft drink. With your appetite satisfied and your skin salty, you disembark at the port of Favignana for an hour at leisure: wander the narrow streets of pastel-coloured houses, try the almond granita or buy tins of artisanal red tuna.
The afternoon continues to Levanzo, the smallest and wildest of the Aegadian Islands. The boat skirts limestone cliffs to the Grotta del Genovese and anchors in the Minnola cove: cobalt blue waters ideal for a second dip or to relax on the open deck. As the light turns golden, the guide shares legends of pirates and the tuna fishing that marked the character of these islands.
The return to Trapani offers a final postcard view of Mount Erice silhouetted against the horizon. You arrive at the quay with the afternoon still young, the camera full of turquoise reflections and the taste of the sea that only the Aegadian Islands can give.
