Step by Step
No visit to Milan is complete without a tour of the majestic Duomo, the cathedral that dominates the historic centre with its pointed towers and elaborate sculptures. This ticket gives you access to the most fascinating interior areas of the complex: from the central nave to the archaeological area to its museum and the adjacent historic church.
As you enter the Duomo, you will be amazed by the height of its vaulted ceilings, Gothic columns and colourful stained glass windows. Every detail reflects centuries of work and devotion, in a construction that lasted more than 500 years. It is advisable to proceed at a leisurely pace to appreciate all the nooks and crannies and their profound religious symbolism.
After touring the nave, you can enter the archaeological area beneath the church. Here you will find early Christian remains such as the baptistery of San Giovanni alle Fonti, dating from the 4th century. A perfect contrast with the grandeur of the cathedral that rests on these traces of the past.
The visit continues at the Duomo Museum, where you will discover sculptures, stained glass windows, plans and a detailed scale model showing how the construction of the temple evolved. This museum provides an in-depth understanding of the architectural process and historical context of the Duomo.
Finally, you can visit the Church of San Gottardo in Corte, a 14th-century example of Lombard Gothic architecture that was part of the former Visconti palace. Its tower and its history make it the perfect end to an intense cultural day in the heart of Milan.
