Step by Step

The Big Bus sightseeing bus is a convenient way to get around Budapest’s main attractions whilst enjoying a panoramic view of the city. You can complete the full circuit without getting off, or use the stops to create your own itinerary.

All three tickets cover the red route, which connects iconic sites on both banks of the Danube. During the journey, you’ll pass close to the Hungarian Parliament, St Stephen’s Basilica, the Great Synagogue, Heroes’ Square, the Central Market Hall and other notable landmarks in the capital.

The Discover ticket allows you to use the service for 24 hours. The Essential ticket extends the validity to 48 hours, whilst the Explore ticket offers 72 hours to explore the city at a more leisurely pace and spread your visits over three days.

All options include a guided walking tour of Budapest, ideal for discovering some of its buildings, squares and stories in greater detail. You’ll also get a 30% discount on a Danube river cruise, which must be booked and paid for separately.

Validity begins when you activate the ticket on the booked day. You can start your journey at any of the designated stops and, from that moment, hop on and off as many times as you like during the 24, 48 or 72 hours corresponding to your chosen option.

    Excellent service indeed. Very complete. Of all the things they offer, I found the way they operate the buses to be great, they are modern and very comfortable. Margarita Island is also very beautiful. I took marvellous photos of everything I did and everywhere I went.

Other Things You Should Know

  • Once the ticket has been activated, it is valid for the number of consecutive calendar days selected
  • Your Big Bus Tours ticket also includes a free walking tour in English, led by local experts, during which you’ll discover some of Budapest’s most intriguing and hidden corners. It departs at 11:00 from stop #1 (Basilica).
  • The bus runs from Monday to Sunday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, with services every 25 to 30 minutes.
  • River cruise departure times: 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00. For later departures, between 17:00 and 21:00, there is a supplement of 2,000 HUF: The meeting point is: Pier 6 (Budapest, Jane Haining rkp., 1051)
  • Download the Big Bus Tours app before your visit from the App Store or Google Play and add your booking using the reference number
  • Activate your ticket in the app on the day of your visit so that you can show it to the driver and board the bus. Please note that it can only be activated on the date booked
  • If you have a group booking, you must all travel together using the same device. If you wish to travel separately, you will need to print out individual tickets before activating them or ask for the booking to be split. Also, remember to ensure your mobile phone is fully charged, although the ticket works offline once activated.
