Step by Step
This tuk-tuk tour takes you through the historic centre of Lyon, stopping in front of the most famous attractions and monuments. It is a private tour, for you and your group only, and includes an expert driver/guide. When booking, you can choose from three options: 1 hour, 2 hours or 3 hours.
You’ll travel in a bicycle-taxi-style tuk-tuk, also known as a rickshaw or pedicab. It is a three-wheeled vehicle powered by pedals. Passengers sit at the back and are sheltered by a canopy. The vehicle will wait for you at a central meeting point or, for the longer options, will collect you directly from your hotel. The route includes the following stops:
- Place Bellecour – Europe’s largest pedestrianised square. It features two statues: the first is dedicated to Louis XIV, the Sun King, whilst the second pays tribute to a famous writer from Lyon: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
- Théâtre des Célestins – One of the oldest theatres in France. It stands on a site that once housed a Templar garrison.
- Saint-Jean-Baptiste Cathedral – Located in the heart of the old town, it is characterised by architecture that blends Romanesque and Gothic styles.
- Traboules – Covered passageways that run through buildings and courtyards. They played a key role during the silk weavers’ revolt in the 19th century.
- Place des Terreaux – Home to the Town Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts. Here you’ll find a fountain symbolising France and its four most important rivers. It is the work of Frédéric Bartholdi, the same sculptor who created the Statue of Liberty.
- Fresque des Lyonnais – The entire façade of the building was decorated with a gigantic mural depicting the city’s 30 most famous figures.
- Place des Jacobins – It is circular in shape and features a beautiful fountain in the centre. The square is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Thanks to the tuk-tuk’s screen, the tour can be taken at any stop. This tour is particularly suitable if you don’t fancy walking.
Reviews
- AA.The guide showed us everything Lyon has to offer in a unique way. The guide showed us everything Lyon has to offer in a unique way, and we were also watched a lot because of the means of transport we chose to get to know the city. It's a pity it didn't last long for me, I really liked this service!
- JJ.Fabulous everything!
- RR.Beautiful experience, to be repeated!
- DD.I had never been on a pedicab, a kind of bicycle adapted to carry more than one person. The truth is that I liked the activity, but I think it was a novelty. You can go through very busy places without any problems, and the driver-guide was great.
