Lyon Aquarium Tickets

Tickets for the Lyon Aquarium grant access to a very interesting modern facility. When booking, you must specify a date, and you can use your ticket at any time during that day. Please note that the aquarium is open from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm.

Opened in 2002, it features an immersive tour covering five themed areas:

• Temperate freshwater. This section is dedicated to species living in the region’s rivers and lakes. Among the most interesting inhabitants is the catfish.
• Shark Tank. This area allows you to see these extraordinary predators up close. It is home to the blacktip shark (recognisable by the dark spots on its fins) and the leopard shark, a smaller species whose diet consists of invertebrates found on the seabed.
• Tropical Freshwater. The tanks at the French aquarium recreate the habitat of the piranha, the fish known for its sharp teeth and insatiable appetite. Another resident worth mentioning is the crocodile fish, which is remarkable for its ability to survive even out of water.
• Seawater. An area dedicated to clownfish, panther groupers, anemones, moray eels and dozens of other species. Here you’ll also see a magnificent coral reef.
• The five senses. It features tanks designed so that visitors can touch turbot, starfish, rays, sea cucumbers and other animals. This is usually the children’s favourite area.

In addition to the themed areas, documentaries are shown explaining the habits and characteristics of marine creatures. The Aquarium also has a lovely gift shop.

The aquarium is situated in La Mulatière, a town to the south-west of Lyon. It lies at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers and is easily accessible from the city centre. From the Lyon-Perrache transport hub, the journey takes just over half an hour. If, on the other hand, you’re travelling by car, you’ll be pleased to know that the aquarium has free parking.
