Step by Step

"Rivers of Time invites you to journey through the geological layers of the Grand Canyon on a journey that begins millions of years ago, when primitive rivers carved out the first riverbeds. Thanks to state-of-the-art visual effects and IMAX animation, you'll see how the strata we see today were formed as we peer over the rim.

The narrative delves into the mythology of Native American peoples, whose legends describe the canyon as a sacred portal. Through dramatic reconstructions you will discover the life of the ancient Pueblo people, their enigmatic decline and the traces they left on these stone walls.

Then you will learn of the European encounter: the Spanish expedition that first glimpsed its cliffs, the adventurers of the Old West and, finally, John Wesley Powell and his crew, braving the fiercest rapids of the Colorado River in an epic of courage.

The footage includes century-old photographs of visitors from the late 19th century, images of local flora and fauna, and flights over the cliffs and riverbed. Every scene is designed to make you feel the vertigo and grandeur of this unique landscape.

In addition to the film, your ticket gives you access to the interactive exhibits at the Visitor Centre, where you can delve into educational panels, fossil replicas and tactile models that complement the IMAX experience.
