Step by Step

This tour is for those who want to get to know Pittsburgh beyond the superficial, combining light exercise with cultural discovery. It starts downtown at the shop on Penn Ave, from where the guide equips you (bike included) and introduces you to the itinerary: a circuit designed to show the best of the urban core and its transformations.

The ride takes you first to Mellon Square, a jewel in the downtown density, and then to the Cultural District, where past and present intersect between theatres and living spaces. You'll continue on to the Strip District, a vibrant area of markets, food, shops and tradition, showcasing the city's economic and gastronomic evolution.

A surprising stop is Heinz Lofts, a testament to the origin of the famous tomato sauce and part of Pittsburgh's entrepreneurial history. The tour continues along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, offering panoramic views of the skyline and explaining the importance of the rivers in the founding and growth of the city.

At Point State Park the group stops to view the confluence of the three rivers, a key founding and symbolic site of Pittsburgh. The tour continues to PPG Place, a distinctive modern enclave that the guide will unravel with anecdotes and context. We pass through Market Square before returning to the starting point, leaving participants with ideas for further exploration on their own.

Only one slight "but": some of the slopes made me more tired than expected. But with the pace it's totally doable.
