Step by Step
Your SUMMIT One Vanderbilt ticket unlocks the moment that defines your trip. The one you’ll tell your friends about first. The memory that pops into your head every time you think of New York. The one you’ll want to repeat.
SUMMIT is one of New York’s newest and most in‑demand attractions. The observatory opened in 2021 and has been blowing visitors’ minds ever since.
The building has 93 floors, and the observatory takes over the top three. Your climb into the sky starts on floor 91, more than 300 meters (1,000 feet) above the street. That’s where the Rise elevators drop you off—and where Yayoi Kusama’s dazzling mirror galleries welcome you. On a clear day, the reflections of the surrounding skyscrapers feel almost unreal. And the best is still ahead.
On floor 92, Manhattan unfolds at your feet with two 360° viewing areas. Spot icons like the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building and decide for yourself: will you be left jaw-dropped or with an ear-to-ear grin? Either way, save some energy. You’re not done yet.
The top floor, 93, is an open‑air terrace with one of the best panoramas in New York. Here you can shop or grab a drink at a café designed by renowned Norwegian firm Snøhetta. Their architects, designers and artists also worked on the Library of Alexandria in Egypt—so yes, this stop is absolutely worth it. If you want to make it even better, book the drink-inclusive ticket option and enjoy a signature cocktail at Après, the café/bar on that floor.
Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Reviews
- BB.I came away with loads of photos and also with the feeling of having seen New York from a different angle. The top floor was the perfect place to round off the visit at a leisurely pace.
- EE.The lift ride is incredibly quick and, as soon as you step out at the top, you’re suddenly confronted with all these reflections. It’s a very visual experience, ideal for taking your time.
- NN.I really enjoyed it, although some areas get crowded quickly and lose a bit of their magic. Even so, the views and Levitation made it all worthwhile.
- HH.We visited on a clear day and it was a great choice. Yayoi Kusama’s galleries have an atmosphere that is both strange and beautiful, very different from the usual.
