Along the trail, you'll see cinder cones, endemic plants such as silverswords, and perhaps even endangered birds such as nene geese. Experience an unforgettable experience hiking inside Haleakalā Crater, a dormant volcano and one of Hawaii's most sacred sites. This hiking tour allows you to immerse yourself in a unique natural environment where geology, mythology and biodiversity converge.

The adventure begins at the meeting point at Kahului Park & Ride, from where you will depart with your local guide for Haleakalā National Park. The hiking route covers 4 miles (approx. 6.4 km) and ascends from 2,400 to 3,000 metres above sea level, traversing volcanic terrain filled with multicoloured cinder cones, lava rocks and exotic plants.

Along the way, you'll enjoy scenic breaks to acclimatise, where you'll also enjoy energy snacks and a healthy lunch. This experience is much more than a hike - it's a living lesson in Maui's natural and spiritual history, where you'll see endangered species and feel the silent majesty of the crater.

Your guide will explain the cultural significance of Haleakalā in Hawaiian mythology, as well as the geological processes that shaped this awe-inspiring landscape. If you're lucky, you may spot rare birds such as the nene (Hawaii's state bird), or the mysterious silversword plants, which only grow here.
