Step by Step
The tour begins with a pick-up in Edinburgh and a journey to some of the most iconic locations featured in *Outlander*. One of the first stops is usually Doune Castle, the setting for Castle Leoch, where you can stroll through its courtyards, halls and walls whilst listening to details about how it was transformed for the series.
You’ll then visit Blackness Castle, used as the setting for Randall’s darker scenes, with stunning views and a dramatic ambience that perfectly captures the atmosphere of the series. Further on, you’ll make your way to Culross, whose architecture, cobbled streets and gardens evoke the village of Cranesmuir. Here you’ll be able to stop at recognisable locations from the series and admire the exteriors featured in the scenes.
Throughout the journey, the guide will share both historical facts and behind-the-scenes anecdotes: what was filmed at each location, why that particular spot was chosen, how real spaces were adapted to resemble others, and so on. The tour also blends the reality of Scotland—its landscape, architecture and culture—with fiction, lending it a special charm.
It’s a packed but well-organised day, designed so that Outlander fans can recognise scenes, feel a connection with the landscapes and learn about the stories behind the scenes, whilst enjoying the natural surroundings and architectural heritage.
