Giant’s Causeway and Game of Thrones Day Trip from Belfast

Set off from Belfast on a full-day excursion along the Giant’s Causeway coastal route and discover some of Northern Ireland’s most famous landscapes, combining Game of Thrones locations with a visit to the Giant’s Causeway.

You’ll travel in an air-conditioned vehicle accompanied by a local guide, who will introduce you to the region’s history and its connection to the popular series. During the tour, you’ll stop for photos at Carrickfergus Castle, one of Ireland’s best-preserved medieval castles, before continuing towards the coast.

The itinerary includes a stop at Carnlough Harbour, recognisable to Game of Thrones fans from the scene in which Arya Stark emerges from the water, wounded. The route continues to Ballintoy, a picturesque coastal village where you’ll have time for lunch at your own expense in a traditional pub and to see one of the famous ‘Thrones Gates’. Afterwards, you’ll visit the Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll have approximately two hours to explore its distinctive volcanic formations of hexagonal columns.

Before returning to Belfast, you’ll make a brief photo stop at the ruins of Dunluce Castle and walk beneath the intertwined trees of The Dark Hedges, one of the most iconic Game of Thrones locations and a site associated with the series’ King’s Road.
