Experience Highlights

Escape from Zurich for an afternoon and discover two of the most special spots in northern Switzerland: the majestic Rhine Falls and the charming medieval village of Stein am Rhein. You’ll travel in a comfortable coach as the landscape changes from the city to valleys, castles and villages steeped in history.

The first major stop is the Rhine Falls, where you’ll have free time to visit the viewing points and experience the power of the water up close. The experience also includes admission to Laufen Castle, one of the best spots for viewing the falls from a privileged vantage point.

You’ll then continue to Stein am Rhein, where you’ll take a guided tour of the old town before having some free time to wander its streets, admire its painted façades and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this small village on the banks of the Rhine.

  • See the spectacular Rhine Falls up close

Step by Step

The excursion begins in the afternoon in Zurich, from where you’ll head north through Switzerland on a scenic journey that will take you to one of the country’s great natural wonders.

Upon arrival at the Rhine Falls, you’ll have approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to explore the area and visit the various viewing points. Admission to Laufen Castle is included, so you’ll be able to admire the falls from viewing platforms situated very close to the waterfalls.

If you visit the area between spring and autumn, you can also add an optional boat trip on the Rhine at your own expense – an experience that allows you to get even closer to the power of the waterfalls. This service is not included and is subject to availability and current conditions.

You’ll then continue on to Stein am Rhein, a small village that seems frozen in time. Accompanied by the guide, you’ll explore its historic centre and discover cobbled streets, houses with painted façades and buildings that retain much of their medieval character.

After the guided tour, you’ll have some free time to wander at your own pace, take photographs or simply soak up the atmosphere before returning to Zurich. In total, the excursion lasts approximately 5 hours and 15 minutes.

We ended the afternoon with a leisurely stroll through Stein am Rhein, which was the perfect way to round off the trip.

The waterfalls are very photogenic, but it is best to hear them up close. The force of the water is truly impressive.

I would have preferred to spend a few minutes less on the road and more in the village, but I realise that distances are what they are.

I liked the balance between the guided tour and time to explore on my own. It doesn’t feel too rigid.
