Step by Step

Dive into the heart of Switzerland's most enigmatic fortress: the Fort de Chillon, built to protect the access roads to the Vaud valley. Beneath its centuries-old stones now hides a museum of military history brought to life with state-of-the-art technology.

Throughout more than 20 underground rooms, you will learn the tactics of Swiss national defence through interactive quizzes and strategic games, testing your knowledge in real time. The big attraction is the 3D Virtual Reality, which transports you to the heart of a military garrison and allows you to experience combat and defensive manoeuvres as if you were one of its soldiers.

The museum's design, by the prestigious François Confino, harmoniously combines medieval walls with contemporary spaces and state-of-the-art audiovisual installations, creating an immersive and educational tour.

After exploring the dark side of the fort, you will go up to the panoramic terrace, a unique vantage point to toast your achievement. Complete your visit with a look around the museum's souvenir shop and restaurant, where you can sample regional specialities (not included in the ticket).

Each information panel is translated into French, German, Italian and English, and the projections and games available cover 11 languages, ensuring an accessible experience for visitors from all over the world.
