Step by Step
The Hortensia Herrero Art Centre is much more than a museum: it is a bridge between the most relevant contemporary art and the living history of Valencia. The guided tour offers you a total immersion in this cultural experience, where architecture, archaeology and contemporary creativity intertwine.
Housed in the restored Valeriola Palace, an emblematic 17th century building, the centre has been meticulously restored over more than five years. In the process, historic architectural elements have been preserved and fragments of the Roman circus of Valentia have been discovered, as well as traces of the Muslim city of Balansiya.
The collection, owned by the philanthropist Hortensia Herrero, includes pieces by renowned international artists. Some of them, such as Mat Collishaw and Anselm Kiefer, have created works specifically for the space. Throughout the tour, the guide will explain the curatorial vision of the centre and the dialogue between the works and the place that houses them.
During the visit, you will access 17 exhibition rooms spread over four floors, combining visual art, sculpture and contemporary installations. The centre also seeks to invigorate the Valencian art scene and attract visitors looking for authentic and enriching cultural experiences.
