Toledo Cathedral is a Gothic architectural gem that is well worth visiting whilst in the city. Its construction began in 1226 and continued for several centuries, until it reached its current imposing structure, measuring 120 m long by 60 m wide, offering a spectacular sight for tourists.

On this guided tour lasting almost two hours, you’ll have the opportunity to enter this thousand-year-old religious building and admire its central nave, transept, side aisles and exterior sections, which are supported by 88 columns and 72 vaults – a dreamlike setting that leaves no traveller unmoved. Tickets to enter the cathedral will be available for purchase on the day of the tour.

You’ll be accompanied by a professional guide specialising in history, with whom you’ll explore the site’s five most iconic areas, known as the Cathedral Museums, comprising:

  • Sacristy: inside , you’ll find frescoes and works of art by artists such as Caravaggio, Titian, Van Dyck and Goya, featuring images representative of Catholicism
  • Treasury: you’ll see the opulent pieces of goldsmith’s work featuring diamonds, gold and silver in the Treasury room, where the Processional Monstrance stands out, housing another hand-held monstrance at its centre
  • Chapter House: the interior of this two-part hall is representative of the Flamboyant Gothic and Late Mudejar styles
  • Choir: this is where the cathedral clergyare seated ; it comprises a lower and an upper gallery, where the seats of the archbishop, canons, prebendaries and chaplains are arranged
  • Transparente: here you will see the impressive marble altarpiece with a window at its centre that allows natural light to enter and illuminates the church’s tabernacle

Another interesting area of the Primatial Cathedral of Toledo, as it is also known, is the imposing High Chapel, which houses works of art and sculptures that are a living testament to the Spanish Renaissance. This guided tour offers an unforgettable journey through time, exploring a religious building that is a World Heritage Site.
