11 Things to Do in Menorca at Night

Menorca's nights are just as intense as those on neighbouring Mallorca and Ibiza. The difference is that if you want a quiet night out, you can have it, and if you want to party, that's also within reach.

Bars, cafés and open-air concert venues are scattered all over the island, making Menorca's nightlife an experience for lovers of life and evening strolls. From Mahón to Ciutadella, and even in some villages such as Binibeca or Fornells, you can find places to party with friends or your partner.

1. Take a stargazing tour

Without a doubt, the ideal night-time plan is to book a stargazing tour in Menorca, as the low light pollution in certain parts of the island means you can enjoy the Milky Way and the constellations with amazing clarity.

This activity, which lasts approximately 2 hours, takes place at Algaiarens Beach in La Vall, which has Starlight certification, accrediting it as having optimal conditions for stargazing. Located in the north-eastern part of the Balearic archipelago, it is an idyllic and paradisiacal place thanks to its crystal-clear coves, different types of sand and landscapes.

In addition, to make the experience even more rewarding, it is designed for small groups of no more than 15 people, making it more comfortable when using astronomical binoculars and telescopes.

2. Delight in the spectacular views of Cova d'en Xoroi

Cova d'en Xoroi is one of the most iconic places in Menorca. Its name comes from a pirate named Xoroi who was shipwrecked and hid in a cave with a young woman from the village. One winter, following tracks in the snow, the inhabitants found the shipwrecked man together with the missing young woman and three children. The villagers sentenced him, but Xoroi threw himself into the sea with one of his children. The young wife was devastated by the death of her love and her son, so she returned to the village with her other two children. This is where the name Cova d'en Xoroi originated.

But far from the legend, if you book an excursion to the Cueva de Xoroi, you will enjoy a relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. You will also be able to see an amazing sunset, which is just as good as other iconic places on the island. This beautiful spot is located in Cala en Porter in the south.

It also has several terraces and viewpoints that allow you to appreciate the entire landscape facing the Mediterranean. A magical place that cannot be overlooked on a night out in Menorca. If you are impressed, keep in mind that you can also book a guided tour of Cova de s'Aigua, where you will see stalactites, stalagmites and a crystal-clear lake that will impress you.

3. Enjoy a night at the cinema in Ciutadella and Mahón

As an extra plan for your night out in Menorca, I can't help but suggest a trip to the cinema. Although it's something we can enjoy in our daily lives regardless of the city we're in, going to the cinema in Ciutadella is a very entertaining activity that I highly recommend.

The ideal place to enjoy a film of your favourite genre is at Cinemes Canal Salat. If you are not staying in Ciutadella but in Mahón, you could go to the Ocimax Maó Aficinet.

As in any other similar venue, both cinemas offer snacks and refreshments. It can also be a good plan if you want a quiet evening before going to your room or after a guided tour of Mahón in Menorca.

4. Sample exclusive signature cocktails

The great thing about Menorca is that you can find a wide variety of cocktails in any bar, but not all places offer signature cocktails. Some examples are Cafè des Museu and Moonlight Cocktail Bar.

  • Moonlight Cocktail Bar is located in Cala Blanca and offers an extensive menu of signature cocktails. It has London, American and Spanish influences to provide customers with the most exquisite cocktail experience on the island. Its terrace is located opposite the cove, so you can enjoy a beautiful view while sampling the signature cocktails. This bar also has a restaurant where you can sample Menorcan cuisine.
  • Another option for sampling signature cocktails is Cafè des Museu, located in the heart of the historic centre of Ciutadella.

5. Enjoy dinner on the terrace of Nou Bar

Right in the centre of Mahón is Nou Bar, one of the best options if you're looking for a comfortable and pleasant place to spend some quality time with friends or family. The highlight of this place is its outdoor terrace where you can have a coffee while enjoying the Mahón sunset or evening.

This bar-restaurant offers an extensive menu, so you can choose from a wide range of dishes or tapas to recharge your batteries. Another advantage of this bar is its affordable prices, as well as the live music. The quality of the place speaks for itself. I recommend trying the tapas on the menu before ordering something more substantial to eat.

If you happen to want to go during the day instead of at night, this meeting place par excellence also offers an extensive lunch menu, typical island dishes and, above all, desserts that you are sure to love. Without a doubt, it is a place you should not miss. As you can see, the list of things to see and do in Menorca is very interesting, and the nightlife is no exception.

You can enjoy an experience similar to that of Cova d'en Xoroi at Sa Cova. Since 1970, this place has become a tradition on the island of Menorca. It is located inside a natural cave, in the heart of Mahón. Its festive and welcoming atmosphere makes it a favourite among tourists and visitors.

At Sa Cova, you can sample exquisite dishes and a wide range of Mediterranean cocktails. One of the most interesting attractions of this place, which will blow your mind, is the view from inside the cave to the outside. As for the food, in addition to being traditional, it offers a varied selection to suit the tastes of every visitor.

If you want to continue eating in the evening with a view of the sea, Sa Cova will undoubtedly surprise you. It is one of the places I recommend visiting for its easy access, affordable prices and varied menu. Among the dishes you can try at the restaurant are:

  • Mussels with Menorca sobrasada.
  • Hamilton lobster.
  • Caldereta (fish stew).
  • Grilled squid with pine nut and tomato vinaigrette.
  • Seafood fideuá.
  • Beef tenderloin with sweet potato parmentier.

7. Choose your themed party at Jazzbah

Jazzbah is a venue located in Ciutadella. Ciutadella is the island's most vibrant city in terms of nightlife, so it's no surprise that its bars and nightspots are truly special. What stands out most about Jazzbah are its themed parties. In particular, the flower-themed party is very well known.

At this bar, you can also enjoy delicious cocktails and tapas, as well as spend the night dancing and enjoying a great night-time atmosphere. The programme of activities is very varied, so I recommend checking out the music and activities on offer. If you like surprises and want to enjoy a pleasant, fun night with plenty of drinks, this place is definitely for you.

8. Enjoy a fun night of dancing at Sa Terrassa des Claustre

Mahón is home to one of the best places to enjoy live concerts. This venue is located right in front of Mahón's main square, a great place to watch the concerts on offer. The interesting thing is that some live music shows are very reasonably priced and others are free. Here you can try tapas, delicious cocktails and all kinds of refreshing drinks.

Music livens up the night all year round. They usually feature internationally renowned DJs, local bands and singers with impressive talent. Without a doubt, Sa Terrassa des Claustre is a place in the Menorcan capital where you can have a good time listening to great music and sampling some typical dishes.

The itinerary and music programme at this venue changes constantly, so I recommend that you check out the concerts and shows on offer each day before you visit. This is definitely a good idea if you are staying in Mahón and want to do something different before settling down for the night.

9. Try the best hamburger in Menorca

If you want to eat something beyond traditional cuisine, Paput Burgers and Cocktail is the place for you. This restaurant offers a wide variety of burger fillings, so you can choose from a wide range to satisfy your cravings. They also have an extensive cocktail menu.

If you want to bring your children, you can do so, as it is not an adults-only venue. They also have a wide range of non-alcoholic soft drinks to accompany the burgers.

But this restaurant, which is open until late at night, doesn't just serve burgers. There is also a wide variety of tapas dishes. It is undoubtedly one of the favourite places for Menorcans to go in the evening. I recommend this place for its excellent musical atmosphere and also for how pleasant it is to enjoy good food with family and friends.

10. Enjoy a good shisha

If you want to try a shisha, Shisha Club is the place for you. The shishas come in a wide variety of flavours and do not contain nicotine. This bar also offers an exclusive atmosphere where you can enjoy exquisite cocktails, good music and tapas.

Another of its attractions is the different sections into which the place is divided. They offer visitors a unique and different experience in each one. You have the opportunity to hang out on the garden terrace, in the disco or on the dance floors.

If you want to dance until the end of the night, Shisha Club is an excellent option, as it offers a wide variety of music and you can move from one genre to another. It is an excellent place to have a quiet or party night, all in one place.

11. Experience a night of partying until dawn.

The party in Mahón lasts until dawn in its popular bars and pubs. Specifically, at the Mambo Deluxe bar, you will have the opportunity to dance to different musical rhythms and stay at the party until six in the morning. It is one of the busiest and most visited places on Menorca's nightlife scene, perhaps because of its great music.

It has several different areas, including the terrace, where you can also enjoy the views. This bar is closed on Mondays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, it is open from 8 pm to 3 am, while from Friday to Sunday it has special opening hours, from 8 pm to 6 am.
