Alpujarra Day Trip from Granada

Escape the hustle and bustle of the capital to discover a very special area in Granada: the Alpujarra. This is an excursion lasting around seven hours, in groups of about 20 people. A local guide will accompany you through some of the villages in this mountainous region.

On this excursion, you’ll set off from Granada city centre in a minibus that will take you to the Alpujarra, situated about 100 kilometres away by road. You’ll enjoy the roads leading to this mountainous region, where you’ll take in the views of the province and the surrounding countryside.

Lanjarón is undoubtedly one of the best-known villages in Granada, not least because it is the brand name of the province’s bottled water. It boasts a ruined castle and is one of Andalusia’s most famous spa towns. It also features a number of fountains, each accompanied by a short phrase or poem, most of which are by the Granada-born poet Federico García Lorca.

Generally speaking, the ‘Al-Andalus’ legacy is very much in evidence throughout the Alpujarra, whether through its agriculture, cuisine, traditions or, above all, its architecture. You’ll be amazed by the thick stone walls upon which oak beams rest, supporting the roof, as well as the slate used on the roofs.
