Step by Step
Discover the legacy of Taylor’s Port, a historic house that has been producing Port wine since 1692. This self-guided experience allows you to explore its centuries-old cellars at your own pace, with the help of an audio guide available in 13 languages so you don’t miss a thing.
As you make your way through the ageing cellars, you’ll learn about the history of port, the winemaking and ageing processes, and the house’s innovations, such as Dry White Port or Late Bottled Vintage (LBV). The atmosphere of the newly refurbished areas brings each explanation to life.
The experience concludes with a guided tasting of three styles: Chip Dry (extra-dry white), LBV and 10-Year-Old Tawny. You’ll compare aromas, structure and sweetness to understand why each style pairs with different occasions and dishes.
Thanks to the self-guided format, you can pause wherever you’re most interested, revisit sections or spend more time on the oenological aspects, without having to follow a group or a set itinerary. It’s ideal for both Port novices and enthusiasts looking to deepen their knowledge.
The logistics are simple: present your ticket at the Taylor’s ticket office in Vila Nova de Gaia on your chosen day and time slot, and begin your tour. With small groups (max. 10 people), the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, perfect for enjoying the experience and taking photos.
Reviews
- NN.1 h 30 min. well spent. Clear history, well selected wines. The bathroom was closed when we left, so be careful if you need it.
- MM.Very good balance between history and taste. Audio guide in clear French. I would have liked a tasting notes sheet.
- SS.Wonderful historical passages and sounds with headphones. LBV my favourite. Walls a bit cold; I wore a jumper.
- EE.Well renovated cellar, three emblematic wines. The only "bad" thing was that my audio took a while to work. Then it was perfect.
