Step by Step

This activity consists of a skip-the-queue guided tour , during which you’ll learn about one of Poland’s most significant religious and political sites: Wawel Hill. During the tour, you’ll visit Wawel Castle and the Cathedral to gain a more comprehensive insight.

This castle, featuring Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance architecture, served as a residence for Polish kings such as Sigismund II. Today, the castle is one of the country’s finest art museums, with collections of gold and silverware, armour, tapestries, paintings and much more.

You’ll also have access to the interior of Wawel Cathedral. This cathedral was a religious symbol for the whole of Poland for centuries, and it was the site of funerals and coronations for figures such as Saint Stanislaus, the bishop. The Royal Chapel, with its gilded dome, and the Wawel Bells are among the treasures most prized by visitors.

In addition, the statues of Pope John Paul II and General Tadeusz Kościuszko are monuments of great national significance which you’ll pass by during the tour.

The atmosphere and the artistic and historical richness of Wawel will take you on a journey through time, exploring Poland’s history. Not to mention legends such as that of the Wawel Dragon, which will make you feel as though you’re living in a real fairy tale.

The castle contains an enormous amount of rooms, I didn't imagine it was so big until I saw it in person. I would say it takes several days to walk through the entire castle and get a better understanding of its history.

An emblematic place in Krakow, full of impressive and very curious stories. It was a good choice to go on this tour, not only because of the castle itself, but also because of how informative it was.

The walk to the castle is well worth it. Although the length of the tour is not very beneficial, I think it is a good choice if you are in Krakow.
