Step by Step

Travelling to Mount Fuji is much more than a hike - it's a full-day experience from Tokyo that combines tradition, nature and unforgettable photographs.

From scenic viewpoints and photogenic pagodas to traditional villages and crystal-clear ponds, the route is designed to show you the contrasts.

  • Arakurayama Sengen Park (Chureito Pagoda): Classic viewpoint for Fuji photos; 397-step climb for the iconic view.
  • Gassho Village (traditional village): Cluster of gassho-zukuri houses showcasing rural life and historic architecture at the foot of the mountain.
  • Oshino Hakkai (crystal clear ponds): Village with eight springs, crystal clear water and small local delicacies (miso tofu, kusa mochi); free time for lunch.
  • Kawaguchiko Oishi Park / festivals: Wide views of Lake Kawaguchi; in season can be replaced by the Kawaguchiko Sakura Festival (1-13 April 2025) or the Maple Corridor (26 Oct-20 Nov).

This is an ideal plan for families, couples or solo travellers who want to see Mount Fuji from the best angles, without having to worry about transfers. And the tour is designed for everyone: although access to some points involves stairs, you can adapt the tour to your own pace and choose what you want to explore in depth.

Pure beauty to see Fuji among the cherry trees if you are in season. Although I went in summer, the pagoda was sublime.

Very smooth, beautiful Fuji and well thought out stops. The bus didn't wait, so be on time or you'll get lost.

Perfect for couples and families. Stairs uphill, but with a stop at the bottom it's fine. I ran out of lunch, keep an eye out there.
