Step by Step
Hakone Tenseien is an iconic onsen ryokan that invites deep relaxation in a privileged natural setting. Its famous 17-metre-long open-air bath, known as the Sky Open-Air Bath, offers an unobstructed view of Hakone's seasonal landscape, ideal for contemplating the autumn foliage or the serenity of winter.
In addition to the main bath, visitors can opt for one of 12 private baths (at extra cost), perfect for those seeking a more intimate and exclusive experience. All baths use natural thermal waters that flow freely from the original source, providing relaxing and therapeutic benefits.
The resort's gardens are also an attraction in their own right. They are home to two waterfalls considered spiritual energy points and Tamadare Shrine, an offshoot of the famous Hakone Shrine. This sacred space is popular with couples seeking fortune in love, thanks to its votive tablets and lucky charms.
Between baths, you can relax in the lounge with 50 recliners equipped with a TV, or enjoy a meal in the on-site restaurant. The menu offers everything from light snacks to traditional full meals (gozen) and seasonal desserts, all with a view of the garden.
Even if you are just visiting for the day, Hakone Tenseien provides a complete ryokan experience : you can change into a comfortable yukata as often as you wish, and enjoy an authentic Japanese atmosphere just a few minutes' walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station.
