Experience Highlights

Create or customise your own mask from the famous Venice Carnival under the guidance of an expert. During this activity , which lasts approximately 1 hour, you can choose between creating your own mask or decorating one that has already been made. And not only that, but you’ll also be able to take it home with you once you’ve finished.

You won’t be doing this on your own, as you’ll be accompanied at all times by a Venetian master craftsman. He’ll be on hand to give you instructions, advice and insights into the mask. What’s more, drawing on his years of experience, he’ll also share all sorts of stories with you, such as the origins of the mask in the carnival and other historical details about this festival.

Step by Step

Create or decorate a Venetian carnival mask under the guidance of a master craftsman who will explain each step you need to take. During the workshop, which lasts approximately 1 hour, you’ll also hear numerous stories about Venice’s most famous festival.

In the creative workshop, you’ll be able to make one entirely from scratch. Here, you’ll learn about the techniques and materials used in its creation. Furthermore, each session will be limited to just two people: you and your companion. This way, the master craftsman will be able to pay closer attention to every step you take and explain whatever you need in a more personalised manner .

Once the mask has been made, you’ll leave it at the workshop to dry for a few hours. Afterwards, you can return to collect it and take it home.

In the mask-making workshop, the mask is not decorated. Therefore, if you want to give free rein to your creativity and play with colours, this is the best option for you. The mask will already be made, so your task will be to paint it, decorate it and give it the look that you think is best and suits your tastes. In this second activity, you’ll take the mask home with you straight after finishing it.

In both activities, you’ll learn everything there is to know about one of the world’s most famous carnivals, thanks to live commentary from the master craftsman.

    If you are in Venice you must take this class, the experience is incredible and you learn a lot about mask decoration.
