Step by Step

Discover a key part of the history of the Roman Empire on this half-day excursion from Rome. Travel comfortably by train to the area of Ostia Antica, the ancient port of Rome, which played a pivotal role in the development of the empire.

The site is situated approximately 25 kilometres south-west of Rome. The train journey takes 25 minutes to the station, which is a five-minute walk from the Archaeological Park. The cost of the train ticket is included in the price, so you won’t have to worry about a thing on the day of the trip.

Your expert guide will accompany you from the start of the tour and take you around the main sites whilst explaining the history and significance of the preserved ruins.

You’ll visit the Ostia Antica Archaeological Park, the city’s most important archaeological site, with admission included in the tour.

    This was an interesting site, but I don't feel that Ostia Antica lives up to the hype that it claims to be better than Pompeii. It really isn't. Also, the meeting point at the Pyramide metro station is not particularly easy to find. There wasn't much to see, though I'm glad we went there.

    The trip was excellent, despite the rainy weather. Our guide was lovely, very knowledgeable and a gift for story telling which made the place come alive. We were lucky to have a small group of 10, all in all we had a great morning.

    Great tour, wonderful tour guide. Ostia is a treasure and simply wonderful to visit. This was our second visit and by far the bet experience. Our guide made all the difference: knowledgeable, well spoken, patient and friendly.

    Fantastic experience, highly recommended! Perfect with a small group where you get an actual experience of a Roman city. The best thing is also that there is no congestion so you can get a better experience, seeing this exceptionally well preserved city was the highlight of the trip, book now!
