Step by Step
This excursion allows you to visit two unmissable attractions in the vicinity of Naples: the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and the island of Capri. The excursion takes place three days a week and includes transfers from your hotel, as well as from the port and the main railway station. The tour lasts approximately 8 hours and includes an expert guide.
Usually, the first stop is Pompeii, which is about half an hour’s drive from the city of Vesuvius. Once there, you’ll learn about the history of this site and its main attractions:
- Stabian Baths – Magnificently preserved, like other Roman baths, they consist of three main rooms – the calidarium, tepidarium and frigidarium – as well as a gymnasium and changing rooms. They were built around 80 BC.
- House of the Faun – The remains of a large architectural complex covering an area of 3,000 m². It has many rooms, but it is not known whether it was a residence for a wealthy individual or a guesthouse. It takes its name from a statue in the garden depicting a patron deity of the countryside.
- Forum – The nerve centre of the ancient city. It is surrounded by the most important public buildings: the temples of Apollo, Jupiter and Vespasian, colonnades, workshops and statues.
Once the tour is over, you’ll board the coach again, bound for the port of Naples. Here, you’ll take the hydrofoil to reach the island quickly. Once ashore, you can easily reach the Piazzetta, the epicentre of social life. To admire the view, you can take the funicular that connects the Piazzetta with the port of Marina Grande. Excursions to the island’s most famous attraction – the Grotta Azzurra – depart from here.
Capri has plenty to offer. You can also walk to the ruins of Villa Jovis (built by Emperor Tiberius), admire the Faraglioni, or head to the town of Anacapri. From there, you can take the cable car to the summit of Monte Solaro.
