Step by Step
Lecce is a city where every corner breathes history and baroque elegance. With this two-hour guided tour, you will walk through the main points of interest of the historic centre while learning about the artistic, cultural and religious evolution of this charming southern Italian city.
Starting at the monumental Porta Rudiae, you will enter the streets of the old town to discover places such as the imposing Piazza del Duomo, a jewel of Baroque architecture with its majestic bell tower, the Cathedral of Sant'Oronzo and other historic buildings that make up a unique scenographic ensemble.
The route will also take you to the Roman Theatre, a vestige of the Augustan era discovered in the 19th century, and to Piazza Sant'Oronzo, where the Roman past and the Venetian heritage coexist. There you can see the Roman amphitheatre, the Palazzo del Sedile and other buildings of great historical value.
Before finishing, you will stop at a local café to taste the famous café leccese, accompanied by typical snacks of the region, a perfect break to enjoy the local gastronomic culture. The tour ends in front of the spectacular Basilica of Santa Croce, with its elaborate baroque façade dedicated to the Battle of Lepanto.
