Step by Step
At Phoenix des Lumières, each room becomes a giant canvas where the walls, floor and even the ceiling come alive with high-definition projections. Digital artists step forward to reinterpret historical paintings and exotic landscapes with fluid animations and immersive sound effects.
As you walk through the main entrance of Phoenixplatz, you enter a world where technology meets creativity. The tour is self-guided, allowing you to pause as long as you wish in front of each projected image, absorb the details and feel the pulse of the music accompanying the visual narrative.
TheKingdom of the Pharaohs" exhibition transports you to ancient Egypt: luminous pyramids, animated hieroglyphs and a mosaic of history unfolding before your eyes. Next, the French Orientalists come to life with digital brushstrokes that recreate talismans and romantic scenes of the Middle East. Finally, "Foreign Nature" adds jungle landscapes and wild creatures in a symphony of greenery and nature sounds.
Each session lasts about an hour and a half, with staggered screenings from 10:00 to 16:15 (check your voucher for current times), so you can enjoy both the daylight and the dim twilight, which intensifies the contrast of the projections.
Since its opening, the centre has attracted art lovers, photographers and families, who find Phoenix des Lumières an innovative and participatory way to rediscover culture. Whether you come from abroad or are a resident of Dortmund: here you can experience art standing, sitting or even walking through beams of light, making every visit an unforgettable memory.
