Step by Step

The Fondation Claude Monet opens its doors for a private tour that goes beyond the conventional visit. On arrival at Giverny, your live guide will welcome you at 84 Rue Claude Monet, just a few metres from the main car park. With a brief historical overview, you will begin your immersion into the personal environment of the Impressionist master.

Inside Monet's house, you will tour the private rooms and flats where he lived and worked for over 40 years. The kitchen, dining room and living room retain the original furnishings and decor, while the walls display the collection of Japanese prints that the painter so admired.

Afterwards, you will go outside to stroll through the gardens that Monet kept almost unaltered. See the famous water lily pond, stroll along the floral paths and stop at the iconic Japanese bridge, immortalised in dozens of canvases. Your guide will explain how the changing light and seasons influenced the artist's palette.

Monet considered his garden to be a veritable "laboratory of colour", and you will be able to see this at first hand. The flow of light, the combinations of flowers and the reflection of the water will transport you to the same moments of inspiration that he experienced.

To round off the experience, your guide will offer recommendations for exploring Giverny and the surrounding area - from the fields surrounding the property to the medieval village - ensuring you get the most out of your stay in this Norman corner of the city.

We arrived early and enjoyed the bridge almost empty. I would repeat.

I missed a little more time in the workshop, but otherwise, experience 10.

Total privacy; we were able to ask about everything. You can tell they know the house in detail.
