Step by Step

Enjoy a stroll through the most historic parts of Prague and discover some of the key events that have shaped its history, such as the Prague Spring or the Velvet Revolution. With a group of no more than 15 people, you’ll have the chance to visit places such as the Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square or Národní Street and see historical photos of events, figures and buildings that, in many cases, no longer exist.

You’ll learn about the country’s historical milestones, such as Czechoslovakia’s declaration of independence after the First World War, or why Hitler was keen to conquer this country before the start of the Second World War.

Thanks to a local guide, you’ll also learn about the living conditions of Czechs in the post-war period and some of the country’s most significant events, at a time when it was led by the Communist Party.

You’ll discover the horrors endured by the population during the 1950s, with a manipulated justice system, a repressive police force, labour camps and other hardships. You’ll also see the site where the largest monument to Josef Stalin, the former dictator of the USSR, once stood.

Halfway through the tour, you’ll have a break of around half an hour to eat at an authentic 1970s Czech canteen and sample some of its traditional dishes and drinks, such as Kofola.

Finally, the tour will conclude with a visit lasting about an hour to a nuclear fallout shelter located in Wenceslas Square.
