Step by Step
Your guide picks you up from your accommodation in Sal Rei (or another agreed point) and, after a brief introduction, sets off for the arid interior of Boa Vista. The first destination is the Viana Desert, a sea of white sand dunes shaped by the trade winds: you will have time to climb the main dune and photograph the contrast between the desert and the blue horizon of the Atlantic.
The route continues to the church of Our Lady of Fatima, a small Portuguese-style chapel perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the ocean. The guide shares the history of this sanctuary, now a spiritual symbol of the island.
The final stretch leads to the north coast, where the remains of the "Cabo Santa Maria" emerge. Run aground in 1968, the rusting ship has become a photographic icon and testimony to Cape Verde's maritime past. Stroll alongside the stranded hull, listen to sailors' stories and contemplate the waves that, decades later, are still lapping against the bow.
At the end of the visit, the vehicle returns to Sal Rei. You will arrive back at the hotel with a full camera and a full view of the most characteristic landscapes of the northern half of Boa Vista.
