Step by Step

Step into the Kingston night with this ghost tour of Fort Henry National Historic Site, an imposing Victorian fortress built between 1832 and 1837 to defend the colony from attack. Under the guidance of an experienced storyteller , you'll wander the corridors, ramparts and dungeons where whispers of soldiers and the echo of invisible footsteps are supposedly still heard.

You'll begin in the parade ground, where the official story ends and the legends begin: witnesses claim to have seen shadows gliding across the walls and lights flickering without explanation. Your guide will share tales of prisoners who died in strange circumstances and of the infamous Deadman's Bay, a corner of the fort where it is said that the souls of the dead still cry out.

Next, you'll enter the underground tunnels, originally designed as supply passages, which today retain an oppressive atmosphere. You will hear how these corridors were used as the scene of executions and grim ceremonies, and you may feel a shiver as you walk through them.

On the way up again, the tour takes you to the lookout over Lake Ontario, where the darkness of night contrasts with the vastness of the water, reinforcing the sense of isolation. Here you will hear stories of ghost ships sighted in the bay and of guardsmen who have disappeared in strange circumstances.

To conclude, you'll return to the starting point with your senses tingling, full of stories and goosebumps. This tour combines danger, history and legends, ideal for those looking for a different and suspenseful experience in Kingston.
