Step by Step

Live a unique experience at the Spanish Riding School Vienna, one of the most prestigious symbols of Austrian culture and the only institution in the world where dressage is practised in its purest form.

During this guided tour, you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the majestic facilities of the complex, located in the heart of the city, next to the Hofburg Imperial Palace. An expert guide will take you through the most emblematic areas, explaining the history, tradition and training of the Lipizzaner horses, famous for their elegance, discipline and beauty.

The tour includes a visit to the Winter Riding Hall, an impressive Baroque jewel where Europe's most famous equestrian exhibitions are held. You will also have access to the Lipizzaner stables, where you can get up close to these magnificent animals, and to the Empire Cellar, where carriages, saddles and historical objects reflecting centuries of dedication to the equestrian art are kept.

Throughout the tour, you will learn how the training of riders and horses remains faithful to the tradition of the Haute Ecole d'Equitation, passed down from generation to generation since Habsburg times.

A fascinating experience combining history, art and equestrian culture, perfect for lovers of animals, imperial history and Viennese elegance.

The building is impressive and the horses are majestic. Very good atmosphere. If I go back I might take a show in addition to the visit.

I had a great time, I learned a lot about Vienna's equestrian tradition. It's not a spectacle, but it more than delivers.

Very good service. Small group, which helps. I would have liked maybe a bit more interaction with the stables.
