Step by Step

The National Dinosaur Museum offers a journey through the history of life on Earth via fossils, skeletons and reconstructions that allow visitors to imagine what the animals that inhabited the planet millions of years ago were like.

In its galleries , you’ll find complete skeletons, skulls and models of dinosaurs, alongside murals that recreate ancient ecosystems. Some of the main attractions are the animatronic dinosaurs, capable of moving and roaring to bring the exhibition even more to life.

The collection isn’t limited to dinosaurs alone. The tour begins with marine life forms from hundreds of millions of years ago and continues through various stages of evolution, featuring fossils of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals, right up to the Ice Age.

Outside, the Dinosaur Garden awaits, featuring large figures set amongst the vegetation and plenty of spots for taking photos. One of the most impressive is Stan, a T. rex some 20 metres long and 6 metres tall, situated next to the entrance.

The visit combines education and entertainment, making it particularly appealing to families and palaeontology enthusiasts, but also to anyone wishing to explore the world of dinosaurs in a highly visual way.

We set off with the child talking about fossils – and not just the T. rex – so he must have learnt something.

The animatronics’ roars are quite loud at times, something to bear in mind with sensitive children.
