Step by Step
Tickets for the Phoenix Zoo will grant you access to Arizona’s most important wildlife reserve. To visit it, you’ll need to set aside between 4 and 5 hours, although the total duration is entirely up to you. More than 3,000 animals live here, which you can see by following whichever route you prefer. The zoo is divided into four themed areas.
- Tropic Trail: this is divided into three zones, each dedicated to a region of the planet characterised by a tropical climate. A variety of animals live here, from orangutans to the fearsome Komodo dragons – veritable dinosaurs that have survived the passage of the centuries.
- Africa Trail: this is home to the savannah habitat. The undisputed star is the lion, with its unmistakable mane and roar. However, there are also species such as the African wild dog, the southern white rhinoceros and Grévy’s zebras.
- Arizona Trail: the area that recreates the typical landscape of this US state and, specifically, one of its most extreme environments: the Sonoran Desert. Among the most beautiful animals, the bobcat (an American lynx with reddish fur and grey spots) and the Mexican wolf are particularly noteworthy .
- Children’s Trail: where children can get up close to the animals and play with them. At Harmony Farm, they’ll find friendly Navajo-Churro sheep, as well as horses, donkeys and much more…
Phoenix Zoo has several food stalls offering popular dishes (burgers, tacos, pizza, etc.). It is located at 455 N. Galvin Parkway and has free car park facilities.
