Step by Step

Get ready for a day packed with nature, history and cinematic magic on this 11 hour 45 minute tour from Glasgow. You'll travel north through the breathtaking scenery of the Highlands, a land of majestic mountains, verdant valleys and legendary lakes.

The first major stop on the tour will be the breathtaking Glencoe Valley, one of the most photographed places in the country. This dramatically beautiful setting was witness to one of the darkest episodes in Scottish history - the Glencoe Massacre of 1692. As you gaze out over its mountains and waterfalls, your guide will tell you the stories that made this valley a symbol of pride and resilience. Film buffs will also recognise the landscape as the setting for the James Bond film Skyfall.

The route continues to Fort William, a town on the shores of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK. Here you will have some free time to have lunch and enjoy the panoramic views, as well as to explore the charming streets and local shops.

After lunch, the tour moves on to one of the most anticipated moments: a visit to the Glenfinnan Viaduct, a curved railway bridge made world famous by its appearance in the Harry Potter films, where the "Hogwarts Express" crosses over a dreamlike landscape.During the summer months, you'll have the chance to see the Jacobite Steam Train, the authentic steam train used in the films, pass by. Don't forget your camera - it's one of Scotland's most iconic postcards.

A short distance away is the Glenfinnan Monument on the shores of Loch Shiel, a symbol of the 1745 Jacobite Rising led by Bonnie Prince Charlie. The site, surrounded by mountains and reflections in the water, offers a breathtaking panorama and many stories that will transport you back to Scotland's rebellious past.

Fans of the magical universe will recognise Loch Shiel as Hogwarts' famous Black Lake, the scene of unforgettable moments such as Buckbeak's flight and scenes from the Triwizard Tournament.

On the way back to Glasgow, you'll stop at Neptune's Staircase, a set of eight locks that form part of the Caledonian Canal, allowing boats to cross Scotland from west to east. This masterpiece of Scottish engineering is a fascinating curiosity for those who love history and technology.

Before arriving in Glasgow, you'll enjoy a final stop at Tarbet, next to Loch Lomond, Scotland's largest loch. Here you can stretch your legs, have a coffee or simply admire the scenery in one of the most beautiful and romantic corners of the country.
