Tangier Day Trip from Costa del Sol

This day trip to Tangier from the Costa del Sol is the perfect way to experience, in a single day, the journey from Europe to Africa. The tour begins with a pick-up in an air-conditioned coach in Málaga, from where you’ll set off for Tarifa by road, travelling along the coast.

In Tarifa, you’ll board a high-speed ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar – a short but highly symbolic crossing: in just a few kilometres, you’ll change continents and cultures. On arrival in Tangier, a local guide will be waiting for you to lead a panoramic bus tour of the most iconic areas of the modern city and its surroundings, giving you an overview before you explore the historic quarter.

Back in the city centre, you’ll begin a walking tour of the Medina and the Kasbah, the ancient heart of Tangier. Accompanied by your guide, you’ll wander through narrow streets, squares and viewing points, whilst discovering traditional Moroccan architecture, the city walls and the history of this port city, which has been a crossroads of cultures for centuries.

At midday, you’ll take a break to enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch (included), where you can sample classic dishes such as harira (a traditional soup), beef skewers and chicken or vegetable couscous, accompanied by Moroccan tea and sweets. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience the local cuisine in an authentic setting.

After lunch, you’ll visit a bazaar selling traditional goods, where you’ll find rugs, leather goods, handicrafts and local souvenirs. You’ll have time to browse, ask about prices and, if you wish, make a purchase, with the guide on hand to help you find your way around.

In the afternoon, you’ll return to the port to catch the ferry back to Tarifa, and from there the coach back to your pick-up point on the Costa del Sol, bringing to a close a packed day in which you’ll have discovered another culture, new flavours and another continent without leaving your base in southern Spain.
